Our damage policy. No surprises.
Most hire damage disputes start with vague terms. Ours are simple, in plain English, and agreed before the mats leave the yard. This page summarises them; the full wording is in our Terms and Conditions of Hire, supplied with every proposal.
Three things to know.
Fair wear and tear is on us
Normal marks of proper use are part of hiring mats. You will never be charged for a mat that has simply done its project.
Loss and damage beyond that is on the hirer
While the mats are on your site, including overnight, weekends and holidays, they are your responsibility. Loss, theft or damage beyond fair wear and tear is charged at full list replacement cost.
Tell us straight away
Any damage, loss or theft: phone us immediately, then confirm it in writing within 24 hours. Early notice keeps the problem, and the cost, as small as possible.
Your responsibility during the hire
For the whole of the hire period the hirer is responsible for the mats and is liable for loss of or damage to them, however caused, including theft, loss, vandalism, fire and weather damage. That includes any time the mats are left on site overnight, at weekends or during public holidays. The hirer keeps the site secure while the mats are on hire.
What happens if mats are lost or damaged
Where mats are lost, stolen or damaged beyond fair wear and tear, the hirer pays the full list replacement cost. Hire charges continue at the hire rate until the loss or damage has been settled.
Notification
Notify us immediately by telephone on 01785 290390 of any damage, loss or theft, and confirm it in writing within 24 hours of the event.
Cleaning
Mats should be reasonably clean on collection. Where mats come back heavily soiled or contaminated, a cleaning cost may apply, agreed with you in advance. It never appears on an invoice unannounced.
The best damage policy is the right spec
Most damage we see is a spec problem, not a handling problem: the wrong mat class on the wrong ground. That's why we spec every hire against your ground and loads before it leaves the yard, and why TrackSpec™ and the CBR guide exist. Get the spec right and the damage conversation usually never happens.
