How we turn project detail into a workable plan.

STEP 1

Start with the actual movement.

We establish what must cross the ground, including gross weight, axle or track footprint, traffic frequency, turning, braking, route width, duration and any concentrated loads. A total vehicle weight on its own is not enough.

Event organisers get a practical route and programme discussion. Contractors and procurement teams get the assumptions, interfaces and exclusions needed to compare a proposal properly.

STEP 2

Use the best ground evidence available.

Measured CBR or geotechnical information is stronger than a description or photograph. Where testing is unavailable, we work from the stated surface, drainage, recent weather, season, photographs and site knowledge, then make the uncertainty visible.

Postcode and mapped soil parent material can provide useful context, but they do not measure the ground at the work area. Read the CBR guide for the evidence hierarchy and limits.

Important: TrackMatz does not turn a postcode into a measured CBR. Weak, disturbed, saturated or unsupported ground can make a lighter vehicle unsuitable.
STEP 3

Separate supplier guidance from site permission.

We start with current manufacturer or supplier specifications, dimensions, connection requirements and published load guidance. Those figures describe the product under stated conditions. They are not automatic approval for a particular route.

We qualify them against the ground, footprint, traffic, turning, duration, preparation and layout. Cranes, outriggers, concentrated loads, steel tracks and unsupported bridging need specific review rather than a headline tonne figure.

STEP 4

Design for delivery, layout and use.

The right class still needs a workable installation plan. We check site access, delivery vehicle constraints, offload responsibility, laydown space, route geometry, straight runs, joints, interfaces and the removal plan.

TrackMatz can provide layout drawings, lead installation and agree scheduled inspections or maintenance for longer hires. Project-specific surveys are available where the evidence or complexity warrants them.

STEP 5

Confirm the recommendation and its limits.

The final proposal records the selected class, quantity or layout basis, responsibilities, known assumptions and any controls that matter. If evidence is weak or conditions change, the answer may be more information, a survey, a higher class or an engineered review.

Site conditions must still be monitored. Standing water, rutting, pumping, edge movement or a change in vehicle or traffic pattern should trigger a pause and review.

TRACKSPEC

A useful starting point, not automatic approval.

TrackSpec combines the project inputs supplied by the user with mapped ground context and current product rules to suggest an indicative class and mat quantity. It makes the first conversation faster and more consistent.

The output is not a site investigation, temporary works design, engineering approval or permission to proceed. TrackMatz reviews the project before commitment and identifies when more evidence or specialist input is needed.

Mapped soil parent material is contextual data at 1 km resolution. Postcode geolocation uses postcodes.io data sources. CBR references include DMRB CD 225 and BS 1377-9. These inputs are indicative and do not replace project-specific investigation.
