Ground protection mat calculator.

Hi, I'm Mark from TrackMatz. If you're planning temporary access or ground protection, TrackSpec helps you work out where to start, and here's how to use it.

First, tell us about the project. Choose the vehicle or plant type, enter the weight of the heaviest machine, and tell us how often the route will be used and how long you require the mats for.

Next, tell us about the site. Enter your postcode for a regional ground guide, then choose the ground description that best matches what you have actually there. The postcode guide draws on regional soil information with British Geological Survey information as a source. It gives us useful background, but it does not measure the ground on your site.

You will also see CBR mentioned. That stands for California Bearing Ratio. It's a measure of how strongly tested ground resists penetration. A high result means greater resistance under those test conditions. It is not a vehicle weight limit.

If you have a measured site CBR, enter it into the advanced options. Otherwise, TrackSpec uses an estimate.

Add your project start month and any agreed ground preparation, so the tool can take the hire period and seasonal conditions into account.

Finally, choose your layout and enter the route length or area. Then select Get My Recommendation.

Where the tool can suggest a suitable starting point, you'll see a recommended mat, an alternative, indicative quantities and points to watch. Some projects will need a conversation before a product can be suggested.

You can email yourself the result or send it to us on WhatsApp with photographs of the route and ground.

We will then review the project with you and confirm the specification before anything is agreed. Tell us about soft spots, rutting, slopes, site access or anything you're unsure of.
