Roadway boundary: TM10 is pedestrian-first and is not presented as a roadway class. Cranes, outriggers, concentrated loads, steel tracks, unsupported ground and heavy repeated traffic require the appropriate escalation. Mats must not bridge trenches, voids or unsupported areas.

What is temporary roadway hire?

It is the hire of connected composite panels to create an assessed temporary vehicle route over ground where an unprotected movement could be unsuitable. The ground, vehicle, traffic, geometry and controls determine the system.

What is the difference between temporary roadway hire and broader temporary access?

Can a temporary roadway carry HGVs or heavy plant?

Potentially, but vehicle weight alone is not approval. Ground evidence, axle and contact loading, traffic, turning, preparation, layout and any concentrated loads must be reviewed.

How much temporary roadway do I need?

Is portable roadway hire suitable for soft ground?

It can spread load and support access where the project assessment supports it, but mats do not make weak ground strong. Very weak, unsupported or changing ground may require testing, preparation, a higher class or competent engineering review.
